In the remote and forested region of Sonbhadra district, where development has been slow and opportunities are scarce, poverty and unemployment have long defined the lives of the rural poor—especially among tribal families, women, and youth.
Amidst these challenges, the Sanjeevani Social Welfare Society has emerged as a beacon of hope and transformation, lighting the path toward self-reliance and dignity.
The organization firmly believes that lasting change does not come from charity alone, but from teaching skills, nurturing confidence, and enabling self-dependence. Guided by this vision, Sanjeevani has initiated comprehensive programs on skill development and livelihood promotion, aiming to empower rural and tribal communities to stand on their own feet.
Understanding the roots of rural life, Sanjeevani has created a unique model that blends traditional knowledge with modern training techniques.
Local natural resources—such as Mahua, Moringa, and other Non-Timber Forest Products —have become the foundation for innovation and income generation.
Through value addition training, villagers have learned to convert these forest products into market-ready goods — Mahua-based food items, Moringa health supplements, and hand-crafted products.
These efforts have not only increased household incomes but also restored a sense of pride and ownership in traditional community resources.
Women, who once remained confined to their homes, are now leading Self-Help Groups (SHGs) and managing micro-enterprises.
Under Sanjeevani’s mentorship, they have started small businesses such as food processing, tailoring, incense-making, and handicrafts.
These ventures have strengthened their families’ financial stability while also giving them a voice, confidence, and leadership within their communities.
For rural youth, Sanjeevani has opened the doors to new possibilities.
Training programs in computer literacy, mobile repairing, tailoring, beauty culture, electrical work, and agri-based technologies are helping young people gain employable skills and self-confidence.
Many have started their own enterprises, while others have secured jobs in local industries or government schemes.
These young changemakers are now becoming role models in their villages, inspiring others to follow the same path.
Today, Sanjeevani Social Welfare Society is more than an organization — it is a people’s movement rooted in empowerment, dignity, and sustainability.
“Skill in every hand, respect in every home, and self-reliance in every village.”
Across the hills and forests of Sonbhadra, where once there was despair, there is now hope, livelihood, and the spirit of Sanjeevani — bringing life, pride, and progress to every household it touches.
